We are currently looking to recruit for a Distribution Centre Manager to manage and direct warehousing, stock management, transport and administration operations within a 130,000sqft Distribution Centre; contributing to the performance and strategic development of the company-wide logistics operation.
Within the role you will direct all aspects of the DC operation, ensuring that customers receive their orders in time and in full via direct fleet, radial sites and RDC collections, within the constraints of a tight budget. You will monitor compliance with relevant legislation including health, safety and environment, Road traffic and HMRC, taking action to tackle non-conformance and manage internal relationships with other areas of the business to continuously develop a strategic direction which meets the changing needs of the market.
You must motivate, lead and develop a team of 5 to 6 direct reports and 150 indirect reports, taking responsibility for their performance management, training, succession planning and recruitment. The post holder will have overall responsibility for controlling a £6m+ profit & loss cost centre, setting realistic and challenging budgets for future operations whilst safeguarding valuable company assets including a large site with warehouse and offices, a large fleet vehicles, various items of mechanical handling equipment, standard racking, a cold-store and £9m+ of stock.
To be successful in this role, candidates must have sustained operational experience in logistics, (including warehousing, stock, transport and admin), experience of running one or more depots with overall responsibility for service and cost and the successful control of a multimillion pound budget. Ideally with an FMCG background (preferably wholesale), you will be able to identify the needs of the business and its customers and concentrate your efforts on getting results by demonstrating sustained, positive leadership in a challenging environment.
Although not essential for the role, a degree (or equivalent) in a Supply Chain related subject, membership of a professional body (e.g. Chartered Institute of Logistics & Transport UK) and / or a Certificate of Professional Competence for National Transport (CPC) would be beneficial.
