Build scalable, secure, and cloud-native data solutions for a leading European financial institution, working within a global technology consultancy on a long-term, high-impact project in the banking sector. - Remote in Portugal -  Permanent contract directly with the consultancy We are hiring a Senior Azure Data Engineer to join an international engineering team responsible for designing, building, and maintaining modern Azure-based data platforms and cloud solutions that support critical banking applications and data-driven initiatives. Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and optimize data pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Python - Build and maintain scalable data solutions using Azure SQL, ensuring performance, reliability, and security - Develop backend services and automation solutions using Python - Perform SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning - Design and implement secure, scalable, and cost-efficient solutions on Microsoft Azure - Implement Azure security best practices using Azure Active Directory, Managed Identities, and Azure Key Vault - Automate infrastructure provisioning and deployments using Terraform, ARM, or Bicep - Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support reliable software delivery - Work with containerized environments using Docker, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and Azure Container Instances (ACI) - Monitor platform performance, troubleshoot production issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives - Produce clear technical documentation and share knowledge across engineering teams What We Are Looking For - 6 years of experience designing and implementing solutions on Microsoft Azure - Strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL - Proven experience building and maintaining data pipelines and cloud-based data solutions - Strong Python development skills - Experience with SQL performance tuning and complex query development - Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, ARM, or Bicep - Strong understanding of Azure security principles, including Azure AD, Managed Identities, and Azure Key Vault - Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines - Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (AKS) Nice to Have - Experience with Azure monitoring and observability tools - Knowledge of cloud cost optimization strategies - Experience supporting large-scale production environments - Experience within banking, financial services, or regulated environments Whats in It for You - Permanent contract with a global technology consultancy - Long-term international project within the banking sector - Opportunity to work with modern Azure data and cloud technologies at enterprise scale - Collaborative environment focused on innovation and continuous improvement - Flexible remote working model within Portugal Interested?
