Build and maintain scalable cloud solutions for a leading international bank working within a global technology consultancy on a long-term project in financial services. - Remote in Portugal - Permanent contract directly with the consultancy We are hiring a Senior Python Engineer with Azure DevOps to join a high-performing engineering team delivering cloud-native solutions for a reference organisation in international banking. This is a role for someone who takes ownership, thrives in complex environments and is energised by solving real engineering challenges not just executing tasks. Key Responsibilities - Design, implement and maintain scalable, cost-efficient cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure - Build and manage containerised applications using Docker, AKS and Azure Container Instances - Develop and maintain backend services using Python clean, maintainable and well-documented code - Architect and optimise data solutions using Azure SQL and Azure Data Factory - Implement secure cloud architectures using Azure AD, Managed Identities and Key Vault - Automate infrastructure and deployment processes using IaC and CI/CD pipelines - Monitor system performance, manage logging and ensure high availability of production systems - Troubleshoot production issues and provide ongoing operational support - Apply AI-assisted development tools responsibly critically assessing AI-generated code and recommendations What We Are Looking For - Masters degree in a relevant field - 8 years of professional background in software engineering, including 3 to 5 years as a Python engineer - 6 years of hands-on Azure experience networking, security, ADF, databases and cost-optimised architectures - Proven experience with Docker, AKS and ACI deployments, scaling and troubleshooting - Solid experience with Azure SQL, including complex queries and performance tuning - Strong understanding of Azure security best practices Azure AD, Managed Identities, Key Vault - Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code Terraform, ARM or Bicep - Experience in Agile and DevOps environments - Fluent English mandatory Nice to Have - Experience with monitoring and observability tools in Azure - Strong documentation and communication skills Interested?
